Ted Diro Primary School Children learn their rights

Grade 7 children of Ted Diro Primary School were privileged to be part of a 2 months program facilitated by the Equal Playing Field (EPF), a non-government organization that is focused on promoting gender equality, combating violence of any form and advocating children’s rights among young children in schools.
The students through the program learnt about their rights, roles and responsibilities and how to set boundaries so as to avoid perpetrators invading their privacy and personal space. Today saw the end of the eight weeks program and prizes were presented to outstanding individuals and teams who demonstrated teamwork and respect .
One student Nicola Siyo said she learn a lot about her rights as a child and also how it is the right for any child to be an equal part taker in any activity despite their gender.
Equal Playing field has been advocating in the school for 8 week through rugby touch games where teams are made up of both gender and through shared talks with children in their class rooms.
