PNG Power signs 2015 Enterprise Agreement

Improved allowances for employees and improved roll-out of company policy are the two negotiated component of the 2015 Enterprise Agreement which was signed yesterday at the PNG Power Training College in Port Moresby by the PPL Management and Representatives of the Union Body, representatives of the trade Union Congress and handed over to representatives of the Department of Labor and Industries for immediate action.
From the Enterprise Agreement signed, President of the Energy Workers Union Mr Eddie Gisa says everyone, by the next pay period will see a 5% increase in their normal pay package right across.
He says it has been a very long wait by the employees who have been very vocal in the types of benefits they want and one thing covered also in the enterprise agreement sees housing allowances.
"Housing has been a very big problem for the employees and with the 5% increase seeing that housing was also included for employees, we hope this will help settle most of our employees," said Mr Gisa.
Furthermore, the Acting CEO for PNG Power Limited Mr John Yanis challenged the staff of PPL that with such good package contained in the enterprise agreement for its employees they should appreciate it with their work output.
"Right across the board all employees of PPL getting an increase in their pay is something that only a company like PNG Power can do shows that this company is all about looking after its employees," said Mr Yanis.
He said that inorder for the company to see to it that what it is offering to its employees meet standards, they will also have performance appraisals to see whether their employees are performing on par to meet they increment.
"Performance in the company will be look at seriously so ti is a two way thuing, you are satisfied with what the company offers yopu in your package and the company is also satisfied with your contribution to its growth in the country," said Mr Yanis.
