Young Papua New Guineans encouraged to apply for Queen's Young Leader of 2016

Young Papua New Guineans are encouraged to apply, nominate or register interest to become a Queen’s Young Leader of 2016.
The Queen’s Young Leader’s Programme is part of the Queens Diamond Jubilee Trust, of which Australia is a funder, and is run with the support of the Royal Commonwealth Society and
Comic Relief charity.
Now in its second year, the Queen’s Young Leaders Programme aims to discover, celebrate, and support young people who have shown exceptional leadership qualities and have transformed their own lives and the lives of those around them.
The Awards celebrate the achievements of exceptional young individuals who have proven to be inspiring leaders in their communities.
The Programme will further strengthen the skills and confidence of Award winners so that they continue to change the lives of those around them and inspire the next generation of young leaders through their own actions and values.
Queen’s Young Leader 2015 awardee from Papua New Guinea, John Taka said: “I have had the chance to meet like-minded people who are leading tremendous projects that help their communities.”
John set up Seeds for Hope to help his rural community tackle some of the challenges it faced. So far the programme has enabled villagers to build new roads and start a potato-selling project to help pay for students’ school fees.
