MALADINA TRIAL SET

The Jimmy Maladina trial starts on Monday May 4th to 6th  this week at the Waigani Court House. 

This case relates to the National Provident Fund saga were over K170 million of hard earned savings of private sector employees allegedly went missing on controversial circumstances. Mr Maladina was the then chairman. He was arrested for official corruption & conspiracy charges on deals made during construction of Deloittes Tower in downtown Port Moresby & a Waigani Land deal in 1998/1999. A Commission of Inquiry was established with reports tabled in Parliament by then Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare. Several high profile individuals were implicated in the saga. Mr Maladina is the first individual to be trailed.

The case proceeds before Deputy Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika.
