SP PNG Hunters Team for Round 8 against Burleigh Bears

PNG Hunters Coach Michael Marum has named an unchanged side for his SP PNG Hunters team in this Saturday’s Round 8 Intrust Super Cup match against Burleigh Bears at Pizzey Park.
Returning to the winner’s circle following a close 26-24 victory over Mackay Cutters last weekend in Kokopo, the SP Hunters fielding their best side to date will hope that will translate into a much better performance away from home.
Centre Thompson Teteh made a successful return from injury to score a try while winger Adex Wera and Timothy Lomai also had strong games.
Lawrence Tu’u, a handy man to have because of his versatility as he can cover several positions in both the forwards and backs, also had a solid game back from suspension.
However, these players including the rest of their team-mates will have to lift their work-rate significantly in both attack and defence, if they want to beat Burleigh Bears, who have named their best possible side to ensure they do not allow the two competitions to slip past them without a strong fight.
The Intrust Super Cup goes into recess for a week leaving May 2-3 weekend free whereby several representative matches are staged.
The Hunters players, who make the final team for the Kumuls Test match against Fiji Bati on May 2, will remain in Australia while the rest of the squad will return home for a break.
The Hunters re-group following the one-off Test match on the Gold Coast for their next game, which is the Round 9 match against Northern Pride in Kokopo on May 10.
