PARTIES IN KAIRAK DISPUTE GIVE ULTIMATUM

East New Britain Provincial Government and Administration have been given a 2-weeks ultimatum to respond to several petitions regarding land matters surrounding the Kairak Oil Palm project in the Inland Baining Local Level Government.
The petitions were handed over during a meeting, that was attended by members of the disputing faction, the landowners, company officials, and representatives from the LLG, provincial administration, lands division and Deputy Governor, Simon Painap.
Provincial Administrator, Akuila Tubal announced, they will need two weeks to look through the petitions, before responding.
Lands Advisor, Geoffrey Leba also added that they will follow through the land investigation report to ascertain the genuine owners.
He says the project is going ahead, as it is among three in the province, and 40 in the country, exempted by the National Government under the recent SABL moratorium.
