PNG Sports Minister Justine Tkatchenko lauds juniors Kumuls performance


SPORTS Minister Justin Tkatchenko yesterday congratulated the newly crowned Commonwealth Rugby League Champions, PNGs Junior side to the championships.
“One thing we can assure ourselves by is, that our future as a rugby league stronghold is safe and potentially world class and more,” Tkatchenko said. 
“They are the future of the Hunters and the Kumuls eventually. Rugby Leagues pathway in the country has been set, we have to do everything we can to ensure that these potential is harnessed and guided right through to the Kumuls.” 
The Minister said the boys have shown us that there are no limits to our potential as Papua New Guinean sports people and the 22-8 victory over Australia and the unbeaten record said a lot about the programme that the boys have been prepared under over the past 3 years. 
“It says a lot about the potential of rugby league and our other sportspersons, given the right development programs, equipment and experience. The Government is committed, and we will ensure that these young men have access to top class facilities, training and development.I am extremely proud of the side’s achievement as Sports Minister. I congratulate the coaching staff and management, PNGRFL and especially the players. 
“All the hard work has paid off,” he said.
