Fiji steals Show

Day number three of the 5th Melanesian Festival of Arts and Culture gets even better with more superb traditional dance performances and contemporary music by our fellow countrymen and Melanesian brothers and sisters.

The show has been so far so good with minor hiccups. Fiji was featured with its outstanding traditional performances by the Vou Dance Company and the National Youth Band of Fiji who stole the show with the Port Moresby Festival crowd going crazy and asking for more.

And to top it all off, Fiji’s big name musician Laisa Vulakoro sang as the crowd chanted and sang along to some of her renowned numbers.

Fiji’s High Commissioner to PNG was in attendance for the duration of the performance.

Other outstanding performances were displayed by the UPNG Arts Students, New Caledonia with their warrior dance and the West Papuans who had to perform their last dance before heading back to their country tomorrow.
