PNG Sepik Teachers give ULTIMATUM

East Sepik teachers have given the Education Office in Wewak this week to pay their outstanding leave fares, or face a three week sit-in protest.

Their ultimatums were put in a petition delivered to Education officials, yesterday.

The Teachers, together with the Papua New Guinea Teachers Association branch Secretary, Michael Aimos, fronted up at the Education office, demanding answers to this on-going problem since 2008.

Mr Aimos said if their two demands are not met, they'll come up with something else.

Meantime representative of the education division who wish to remain unanimously says the education division did not delay the teachers leave fares.

He says they have already paid the cheque last Thursday but the travel agent in Port Moresby has delayed processing the cheque.

He said the last lot of the teachers leave fares will be paid hopefully by the end of this week.

He said they are not leaving any teachers out as everyone will get their fares and apologized for the delay of processing caused by the travel agent.

He also said the education division choose to deal with the travel agent because they want to save the teachers entitlements.
