WITNESSES SUMMONED TO APPEAR

The officer in Charge of Summons and Warrants with the Vanimo Police has been summoned to serve three summonses on witnesses in Oksapmin to travel to Vanimo to appear before the court for alleged threats of violence and intimidation.

Justice Elenas Batari also summoned Senior constable Danny Mimba to serve summons to witnesses, Max Binen, Toki Sen and Gideon Temok for alleged threats of violence and intimidation in the election petition trial against Governor Amkat Mai.

Lawyers for the petitioners, Simon Solo and John Tekwie, have closed their cases but the electoral commission has indicated it will call up to 11 witnesses to testify in this trial.

They include the Provincial Elections Manager, Martin Anskar, and the two supervisors during counting for the West Sepik Provincial seat at the PNG Defence Force Barracks mess, Moses Opiba and Greg Tavatuna.

Governor Amkat Mai’s lawyer, Paul Mawa, is also calling witnesses in this matter that is expected to continue this week.
