PNG born Wallabies star Genia pens Digicel endorsement

Papua New Guinea-born Australian rugby union international Will Genia has agreed a personal endorsement deal with Caribbean mobile phone network Digicel.

The deal will see Genia become a brand ambassador of the Papa New Guinea (PNG) arm of the network. The 25-year-old, who has 41 caps for Australia and plays for Super Rugby franchise Queensland Reds, will represent the brand in new campaigns, product launches and other promotional activities.

The duration and financial terms of the agreement were not announced.

Genia said: “I am excited to have joined the Digicel team and I am really looking forward to being a part of a vibrant brand that continues to change and improve people’s lives in PNG.”

Digicel chief operating officer Darren McLean added: “We are thrilled to have Will on board as a brand ambassador for Digicel. He really does represent the Digicel values and symbolises the energy and passion of our network. We are excited to work with him and look forward to bringing customers and fans closer to their local hero. Will is a great role model for the young people of PNG and a fantastic ambassador for the country and Digicel.
