MOBILE phone retailer and distributor Fone Haus has been awarded distributorship of Huawei’s range of smart phones across Papua New Guinea to give customers a better choice.
Fone Haus general manager Gregory Yeo said the distributorship meant a lot not only to the company but to PNG as well.
He said Huawei was a global brand with presence in more than 140 countries and had partnerships with more than 500 different network operators.
“They have more than 25 years of experience dealing in telecommunication equipment and solutions and are considered the world’s number one telecom solution provider with total revenue of more than US$32.4 billion,” Yeo said.
He said Fone Haus strived to provide distinctive quality and Huawei’s range of ‘smart phones’ not only provided consumers with a better choice, but  were innovatively designed and packed with the latest technology available in the market.
Yeo said 2013 would be a busy year forFone Haus as the company intended to open more branches and improve on flagship stores in Port Moresby.
Director of emerging business Lee Pokarop said Huawei Technologies had partnered Digicel, Telikom, bemobile and the PNG government to provide world-leading communications solutions customised to allow their partners to achieve efficiency .
He said Huawei was currently 70% of the way in completing the information technology (IT) backbone for PNG, with support from Telikom.
Pokarop said Huawei had supplied more than 120,000 feature phones into PNG market through its various partners between 2010 and last year.
“The distributor arrangement between Huawei and Fone Haus is a timely and necessary phase in evolution for both businesses,” he said.
“Huawei looks to harness the retail footprint and Fone Haus looks to leverage the latest technological smart device innovations and brand support from Huawei…to grow its brand.
“Huawei is also poised in 2013, to begin delivery of the electronic ID card project for the PNG government, which will result in all PNG citizens above 17 years of age having a national ID card.”
